Welcome To First Evangelical Free Church of Ames

New Fiscal Year Begins

June 2010

First EFC Family and Team –

It’s been a beautiful (albeit wet!) spring, and everything points to a terrific summer. We’ve had a great ministry year together as a church, and the praise goes to the Lord Jesus Christ, whom we love, serve, and look for in the skies.

We’ve also been through two years of a very difficult economy, effecting us, our families, and the church..

Our Position - Our fiscal year begins June 1 and ends May 31.

    • We finished the 2009-2010 fiscal year with giving to the Focused Ministries just behind expenses by -$17,000. The year’s expenses totaled $1,510,549; giving was $1,493,660

    • The deficit for the 2009-2010 year will be covered with funds accrued in a Miscellaneous In/Out account which has undesignated money (approximately $5,000) and with funds from our New Property Income (income from our crops grown on the Carver Avenue land)

    • This means that we begin the new ministry year 2010-2011 at zero (!), without a previous-year surplus in giving to help us through the summer months, a time when expenses typically exceed income.

This communiqué is being sent to remind you that your faithful giving is important every month of the year, including during the summer. The Focused Ministries budget approved by the congregation (April 25) is $1,649,805. We anticipate that expenses represented in this budget will fluctuate little from month to month.

While the new budget is smaller than the one approved for 2009-2010, it is 10% more than giving received in 2009-2010. And yet we believe that God is calling us to continue with the present staff and to fully carry out the ministries this budget will support.

Will you please do the following?

Commit to PRAYING for the needs of our ministry each week. We are totally dependent on the Lord for His supply, and it is important to ask for it! Our weekly need is $31,000.

Commit to REGULAR GIVING to First EFC, while at home and attending or even when you are away on vacation. Please consider using the tools available for “on-line giving” (call the church office) or your “automatic bill-pay option” in your banking, to establish a regular giving habit (this works wonderfully for Pamela and me).

Consider GIVING EXTRA if the Lord supplies this to you.

If we do this together as a team, we’ll make our way through the summer with strength, ready for a great Fall-Winter-Spring of ministry in 2010-2011! Thank you!
